- Name/Title: Beth Squires – Senior Editorial Manager.
- Unofficial Role: Pop culture obsessive / Chai tea latte guzzler.
- Hometown: Swanmore, Hampshire – a village that (at the time) had two schools, two churches, and four pubs. But now, London!
- Office Catchphrase: “That’s awesome!” And, “Next time…”
- Fun Fact(s): My first career aspiration, as a toddler, was to be a dust(wo)man. In my previous incarnation as an entertainment editor I met tons of famous types, but my favourite was Tom Hardy. (Swoon.)
- Beauty Confession: I often leave way too much time between haircuts…
- Currently Loving: KMS hair products have basically revolutionised my blow dry since we featured them in the Jan box, I’m never without my fresh® lip treatment, plus I love L’Oreal nude nail polish in shade 104 for an easy home manicure.
- Worth The Splurge: Diptyque and Molton Brown candles, Aromatherapy Associates Deep Relax bath oil, a Eurostar ticket to raid the pharmacies in Paris… Also, since I invested in a Clarisonic, my skin has never looked better.
- Go-To Make-Up Look: My usual day look is based around a smoky eye, using Laura Geller or Bobbi Brown gel liner, Urban Decay’s Naked palette, and one of a selection of Lancome mascaras(!). I mix Garnier BB Cream with MAC Strobe Liquid for a daytime base – I have quite pale skin – and use Smashbox’s peachy blusher in Idolize Me from their gorgeous ‘Love Me’ range, or Benefit’s Dallas. If I’m going for a strong lip instead, I’ll tone down the eyes and use Bobbi Brown matte lipstick in Red Carpet, or MAC’s fuchsia Girl About Town.
- Favourite Food: The Dead Hippie burger from MEATliquor is always a winner (in New York, a Shake Shack burger is just as good), anything from Wahaca, or a lobster roll from Burger & Lobster. On a Sunday, I love a roast dinner at The Stag near Hampstead. And chocolate-covered pretzels. You know, really healthy stuff…
- Favourite Film: So many. My favourites include Empire Records, His Girl Friday, La Haine, Can’t Hardly Wait, Bullhead, Melancholia, Bronson, Rocky, Labyrinth, The September Issue, Hocus Pocus, Warrior, All About Eve, Aladdin, The Artist, To Kill A Mockingbird, Whip It, Memento, Back To The Future, Night At The Museum 2, My Own Private Idaho, Hackers, Over The Top (etc etc)… Don’t get me started on TV shows either! We’ll be here all week.
